If your ROV, AUV, towfish or similar operations need high acoustic power over distances of up to 7,000m then WMT is the perfect solution. Available in 3,000m and 7,000m versions, WMT offers: high power acoustic output; responder mode for fast position updates; full two-way Sonardyne Wideband 2 interrogation / reply and directional and optional remote transducers.

Use it with our Ranger 2 USBL for deep water, long layback tracking tasks.  The 7,000 m version has a higher acoustic output power level for improved long-range operation.
WMT supports responder trigger for faster position updates in ROV and towfish tracking. An integrated rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack can be charged from the ROV’s power supply and full RS232 communications enable channel set up, power and gain etc. to be changed from the surface.

An on/off switch (3,000 m version only) helps to ensure the battery pack is not discharged when not in use. If an umbilical trigger is not available, then the full Wideband transponder mode provides excellent USBL performance in a small, lightweight package.

Remote omni or directional transducers are available. These make installation on a ROV easier as the remote transducer can be installed where there is good line-of-sight and is easily replaced if damaged. The main body of the transponder can then be installed within the ROV frame to protect it from damage.

Nano is our smallest ever USBL transponder. It is perfect for use on coastal and inshore survey and inspection operations which require targets to be tracked at high elevation. Its small size means it is ideal for tracking divers during training missions.

Nano is built using the same signal technology platform you’ll find in our award-winning 6G products – Wideband 2. So you can expect reliable acoustic communications in all operating environments, accurate position fixes and a continuous stream of location updates.

Nano operates in the Medium Frequency (MF) band, so is compatible with our family of Ranger 2 USBL topside systems. Measuring in around 160 mm in length, 55mm in diameter and weighing in at under 200 grams in water – depending on the exact version you’re using – Nano is small enough to fit on the smallest of vehicles and light enough for a diver to barely know they’re carrying one. It has an inbuilt depth sensor and is a 500 m depth rated unit.

It has a 90-day inert battery life, ideal for long-term deployments and recovering lost assets. Nano’s battery lasts up to 12 hours, even when being actively tracked with a one second position update rate.

Nano is available in cabled and Near Field Communications (NFC) formats, allowing you to choose the most suitable version for your operations. The cabled Nano features an industry standard Subconn connector allowing the Nano to be permanently powered and can also be used in responder mode.

The NFC Nano features a unique connector-less design that is recharged and programmed via the Nano Docking Station. The NFC technology allows full configuration of the Nano whilst maintaining its rugged “strap on and go” form factor.

Deck Topside is our new generation of command and control topside for RT 6 and IT 6 transponders. Designed for use in the workshop and on the back deck, it's packed with innovative design features to keep you working in any weather, on any type of boat, all day long.

Power comes from a 12/24 V dc external input, and when you’re operating from a boat with no external power, a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery provides up to 8 hours of continuous operation. 

A cabled Nano dunker for the system provides the secure acoustic communication link between the surface and seabed. It simply plugs into the transceiver port on the side of Deck Topside and is suspended (via its own cable) over the side of your vessel. It is supplied as standard with 10 metres of cable. A 20-metre extension cable is also available. Depending on which RT6 you have, there are different deck kits available, from shallow to deep. 

The Shallow Water Deck Kit is a workhorse for all operations that require an operational range of less than 1, 000 m, so perfect with RT 6-1000. For operations deeper than this, our Mid Water and Deep Water deck kits are perfect. Use the Mid Water kit with RT 6-3000.The Deep Water deck kit utilises our long range, LMF-frequency band for use with RT 6 HD. 

The Deck Topside kit consists of the control unit, a Nano dunker and a 10 m deck cable. Accessories including a 20m deck extension cable and DC charging cable are available separately.

Deck Topside is a robust and portable solution for commanding and controlling RT 6 Release Transponders and IT6 Initiation Transponders (a device developed to allow non-electric mine neutralisers to be wirelessly initiated) from the surface. Deck Topside is completely portable and perfectly at home working in harsh marine environments. It features a high brightness, full colour, 7-inch resistive touch screen display and an easy-to-use user interface which allows a host of parameters to be set, including environmental. 

The unit is IP67 rated when closed and IP66 when open and being operated. As touch screens are not suitable for every stage of a marine operation, physical buttons are used for critical tasks such as arming, initiating and releasing. Power comes from an 12/24 V dc external input, and when you’re operating from a boat with no external power, a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery provides up to 8 hours of continuous operation.

AvTrak 6 Nano may be our smallest acoustic transceiver, but its features and performance are anything but. It’s built on the same 6G hardware and Wideband 2 digital signal architecture found in its larger cousin, AvTrak 6, all packed into the smallest possible form factor.

AvTrak 6 enables an AUV to undertake simultaneous USBL tracking and telemetry with a research vessel, as well as AUV-to-AUV or UUV-to-UUV communications. This capability, along with its size, makes it a prime option for swarm or squad robotics operations.

Its bi-directional acoustic modem has user selectable data rates of 200-9,000 bps.  It has wide voltage input range and multiple communication methods for robotics integration and is available as a housed variant or OEM for integration into vehicles.

A common configuration enables the USBL system to communicate with a squad of UUVs equipped with AvTrak 6 Nanos, broadcasting to all the positions of each squad member to aid the navigation solution and improve their situational awareness. Each UUV then replies in sequence with status information.

AvTrak 6 Nano can also be used to enable UUV-to-UUV communications and choose from seven telemetry schemes ranging from 200 bps to 9,000 bps of effective user bandwidth. This is suitable for either short burst communications or full large quantity data upload from seabed monuments.

It's not just for AUVs. By integrating AvTrak 6 Nano with your seabed nodes, you can create a network of sensors that can position and communicate with each other.  Use it with our USBL Ranger 2 family to track the nodes, then use the Sonardyne Messaging Service (SMS) to exchange status messages with the USBL or other AvTrak 6 Nanos in your vicinity. 

AvTrak 6 Nano measures just 192 x 55 mm, you won’t find a smaller AUV transceiver with this much capability. It has an operating range of 3,000 m, a depth rating of 500 m and full SMS and Modem functionality.

It’s a small product with huge capability. AvTrak 6 Nano provides navigation aiding, tracking, communication and mission planning – all in one incredibly small package. Fit it, and your micro or man-portable AUV will be equipped to undertake simultaneous USBL tracking via a surface vessel and robust telemetry for AUV-to-vessel and AUV-to-AUV communications.

The RT 6-3000 acoustic release transponder is relied upon by energy, defence and science users to moor valuable equipment strings for years at a time, and when commanded to do so, reliably return equipment and logged data to the surface. 

It is suitable for most marine and subsea operations including; subsea structure installation, environmental surveys, research vessels and monitoring ocean currents. RT 6-3000s are regularly used to anchor oceanographic moorings to the seabed. If you don’t have a Ranger 2 USBL, our rugged and lightweight Deck Topside with an over-the-side dunker is all you need to both configure and command RT 6-3000s. 

Depth rated to 3,000 m, with up to 4,500 m working range and battery life of over 32 months, RT 6-3000 can meet the most challenging operational demands. Standard features include a Working Load Limit of 1,275 kg (at 4:1) and a spring-assisted release mechanism. RT 6-3000 is compatible with our standard tandem and high-load release frames for scenarios requiring a higher WLL. 

Speak to us about your requirements as custom frames are also an option. A battery disconnect fob is located on the transducer and uses an internal magnetic switch to electronically disconnect the battery when not in use. This means you do not have to open the unit to manually disconnect the battery, saving time and reducing the risk of incorrect re-assembly. RT 6-3000s use the same trusted spring-assisted release mechanism that has been in service for many years and used on thousands of Sonardyne transponders globally.
